The Supermarine Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter aircraft that was used by the Royal Air Force and other Allied countries before, during, and after World War II. Many variants of the Spitfire were built, using several wing configurations, and it was produced in greater numbers than any other British aircraft. It was also the only British fighter produced continuously throughout the war. Thank you for your kind words. I find that I wish all machines could talk. We would have some fantastic stories.

Nice photo! My father was on LST 288 at Omaha beach on June 6, 1944. Before that he was sent to Glasgow, Scotland, for small boat training to learn to operate the landing crafts they used. He survived it and was later wounded in April, 1945, at Okinawa and spent the next year in hospitals ending up in Bethesda, MD, on the last. When I see your wonderful photo, I try to imagine what story this plane could tell!
